McMinn County Justice Center

This 28,500 square foot courts addition to the existing Justice Center lets McMinn County avoid having to transport inmates from the Justice Center to the existing courthouse downtown for hearings. The addition gives the County more courtroom spaces, and allows for larger courtrooms, in addition to housing the County Clerk’s offices. Cope Associates relied on intensive interaction with all of the user groups to make sure all of their needs were met, resulting in, among other things, additional space for the kitchen and the nurses’ area. Also designed was a 16,000 square foot jail pod that will add additional, much-needed housing. The project is slated to be finished in 2010.
