Madison County Law Enforcement Center

Replacing one of the oldest jails in North Carolina, this 45,000 square foot law enforcement center can hold up to 128 inmates and contains a full-service kitchen and laundry. It includes a 911 center, and the main sheriff’s offices will also be located here. The project is complicated by the distinctiveness of the site, owing to the mountainous terrain of the region. Many feet of fill were required in one spot, and cutting into the mountainside was necessary in another.
